Chimney sweeping in Säter municipality
Skrået is the contracted chimney sweeping company carrying out sweeping in Säter municipality from 1 April 2025.
The assignment
We sweep — Dala-Mitt inspects
Sweeping is an important part of fire prevention and helps reduce the risk of fires in fireplaces and flues. We at Skrået are responsible for sweeping according to the intervals and guidelines set by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB).
The fire safety inspection in Säter municipality is carried out by Räddningstjänsten Dala-Mitt, the regional rescue service. It is a separate form of supervision that checks that fireplaces and flues are in a safe condition and do not pose a fire risk.
Together, we work to create a safer home environment for the residents of Säter municipality.
New fireplace or alterations
If you are installing a new fireplace or making alterations, contact the building office at the municipality. We can also tell you what applies to sweeping, inspections and safety.
Bringing an old fireplace back into use
If a fireplace has been out of use for longer than one inspection interval, the municipality must assess it before it may be used again. Contact Räddningstjänsten Dala-Mitt to have the fireplace recommissioned.
Prohibition of use
A fireplace that has not been swept and fire safety inspected within the set interval is subject to a prohibition of use.
Regulation on sweeping rates
How the rates are made up
Prices in the rate schedule are stated excluding VAT. VAT of 25% is added to sweeping and related services. The rates consist of four parts.
- Administrative fee — covers the rescue service’s costs for following up and supervising private contractors.
- Basic fee — covers the costs of travel, moving between jobs and administration.
- Work fee — covers the cost of the work in and around houses with fireplaces, or buildings with kitchen extract ducts.
- Other additional fees — compensate for work that is especially time-consuming, hard to plan or costly, or that needs special equipment. A common one is the wasted-trip fee, charged when access was not given at the notified time or the work had to be stopped because of inadequate roof safety equipment or similar.
