Home Ventilation OVK
Mandatory ventilation inspection
We help you achieve a better indoor environment through mandatory ventilation inspection (OVK) — and suggest measures that reduce energy use without making the indoor climate worse.
Responsibility
OVK
We inspect the technical parts of the ventilation system and also suggest ways to reduce the energy used for ventilation, without a poorer indoor climate. Whoever uses the building, it is the owner’s responsibility to comply with the law. The inspection checks the system against set minimum requirements for air flows and function.
A satisfactory indoor environment is part of the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s environmental quality objective “A Good Built Environment”, in which ventilation inspection and energy use play an important role. The aim is that every building where people spend a lot of time should have documented, properly working ventilation.
What a working OVK gives you
- Good indoor air
- Satisfied tenants
- Sound operating costs
- More productive staff
- Easier learning in schools
How it works
From inspection to certificate
Our inspectors are certified to carry out ventilation inspections. At each inspection the inspector keeps a record. One copy goes to the building’s owner and one is sent to the local building committee.
The inspector issues a certificate stating the date of the inspection, which the owner must display clearly in the building — for example in the entrance.
The municipal building committee is the supervisory authority. It monitors that OVK is complied with and that the inspector does the work correctly. If the owner does not follow the OVK rules, or fails to remedy defects that have been pointed out, the municipality can order the owner to take action under the Planning and Building Act (PBL).
Ventilation inspections take place every three or six years, depending on the type of building and ventilation system.
